i have a 01 jeep ch. laredo 6 cyl. that loses oil pressure when truck is still ideling?
I have a 01 jeep ch. laredo, 6 cyc. i purchased it new at the end of 00. my truck has 220000 miles and only 15000 is on the new engine i put in 1 year ago. i have also replaced the radiator, cooling fan and relay. I have had no problemsa at all. I continue to get the oil changed every 3000 to 4000 miles for it is a work truck and i travel 140 miles 5 days a week for work roundtrip. Well, last week i took it for the oil change and was told the transmission and anti-freeze were leaking and to have it repaired, so i planned to do that but on my way home from work 3 days after this finding, my truck started losing oil pressure when i come to a stop, but when i press the gas to go the gauge returns to normal pressure. the place that changed my oil was out of oil for high milage and they did a basic oil change with qstate 5w30. could i be losing my pressure because the oil is to light for the milage? what does oil leak p.t.s. mean? the oil pressure drops to zero when the car is stopped

The oil pressure will drop some when the RPMs are lower. I had a 97 Cherokee and it did the same exact thing. Keep in mind that I do not mean that it should be dropping down to zero if that is the case. The oil pressure switch is very close to the oil filter on some of the 4.0L engines. Jeep did a redesign and moved it a little more out of the way, but it is still very easy to damage if the person doing the oil change isn't paying attention when removing the filter. In short: if the pressure drops slightly its normal, if it drops to zero get it checked.

About: Electrical Problems in 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
Electrical Problems in 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?
My 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo's flashers went out, no turn signals, no hazards. Replaced the flasher for the hazard lights, the hazards started working, couldn't find the where the flasher for the turn signal goes so BF takes it in to the mechanic to fix. Well now my computer doesn't work, and my stereo doesn't work, and the flashers still don't work. He tested all the fuses, and apparently tested the turn signal flasher fuse (only I'd like to know where he FOUND it, because I took the car apart searching everywhere) The mechanic says we have electrical problems, but he doesn't do electrical work and electricians charge by the hour. It's been one thing after another with this car, but I've put so much money in it I'm not trying to junk it over some electrical BS. I just don't understand how if there's electrical problems why I was able to fix my hazard lights. Did this guy f*** up my car? And has anybody had a similar problem with their older jeep? Napa told me there were two fuses, one for the hazard flashers, one for the turn signal flashers and that's what the dealership told me, but this mechanic told me that the hazard flashing unit is used for the hazards and the turn signals and the problem is probably in the steering wheel column.

your turn signal and hazard light,s are all in one unit you may well have a hazard light switch problem as the turn signal lights fun through the switch, the car sound,s too good to junk, get it to the electrician to get it sorted

Ya electrical issues suck. First thing i do before tracing out these issues is clean up the battery and cable connections and follow the ground wires and check their connections. When i get that done its off to the fuse box (s). Quite often there is one under the dash and under the hood. And i have seen independent flash units. "However i am old school". Yes i would say he could have messed up the system in his poking around by shorting something.

About: I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V6 2wd that is losing coolant. I need help!
I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V6 2wd that is losing coolant. I need help!?
My Jeep has been losing coolant slowly over a 2 to 3 week period. I bought a gallon of coolant that I have been using but recently had to use the last bit. I noticed that there must have been a slow leak at first, but then this morning I got a low coolant light again and when I went to check it, the entire resevoir tank was empty. I did not notice anything leaking underneath and all the hoses appear to be ok. I have noticed that the resevoir tank top has been coming off on its own, as each time I have had to replace the coolant, the top was already popped off. I checked the radiator and there was plenty of light green liquid in it. I'm wondering if there could be a problem with the water pump? Or could the resevoir have a leak? It was filled up halfway when i went to work this am at 5am, and just checked it at noon and can already tell its down about an inch. I noticed a sweet smell for about a minute or two while driving, but did not notice anything leaking. Can anyone help?

Sorry to tell you that it sounds like you have a blown head gasket or a cracked cylinder head. The sweet smell you noticed is the coolant being burned inside one or more cylinders.
2 :
i would suspect that either your water pump or radiator is leaking,i would also check all your hoses and see if they are leaking. if your engine is overheating then i think that you have a blown head gasket
3 :
I can help. Take it to an auto repair place and tell them the same thing. it's a leak that needs to be fixed.
4 :
Either, as the man said, a head gasket is blown or you have a cracked head.
5 :
change the radiator cap,if that dont fix it,change the thermostat and check for heater core leak if the sweet smell persist when running the heater..if your oil's dip stick show's sign's water or an ugly brown, then that would be a head gasket..
6 :
i own a repair shop, and i,ll try and help on this one,,first you need to check in under the carpet and see if it feels wet or damp, this would indicate a leaking heater core on it,,if its dry check the bottle and see if it has a crack in it that might cause it to leak out, then look around the water pump, and see if it looks like it might be leaking some on it,if it all looks good you need to inspect all the hoses on it,,every one of them, there may be a pin hole in one of them that will cause this, also check and make sure the radiator cap is in real good shape,,if the gasket on it looks bad replace it,if all this doesn't turn out to help, you might want to take it and have a pressure check done on the entire system, and see if it looses pressure,,this is the best way to find a problem like this,,you will find it,mine was doing this, and it turned out i had a bad head gasket causing it,,but the pressure check will find out where its going too, good luck with it,i hope this help,s.

About: 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Transmission Problems
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Transmission Problems?
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Trans Problems? So two days ago i drove my truck up to my work.. about 15 minutes away, and it drove completely normal. About an hour later i ran my truck through our wash and parked it outside without drying it off for 30 minutes when it was snowing hard outside... Then i dried it off and started it up, it sounded normal but when i put the trans into DRIVE my Jeep didnt even move.. it felt like it was in neutral.. the same with reverse.. so i ended up leaving it in my parking lot at work until last night when i towed it up to the trans shop.. they said the trans is leaking pressure.. can you tell me how much this repair is expected to cost? Thanks, JULIEN W
