Is it illegal to drive a Jeep Cherokee with the doors off?
I live in washington state and have an '89 Jeep Cherokee Laredo that I use to commute to work and offroading. I don't want to know your opinions on whether or not it's safe, that's my choice. I would like to know if it's illegal to drive with the doors taken off. The mirrors are on the doors so if need be I can get one or two and bolt them to the fenders. Thank you for reading. =P

Yes, it is illegal.

I'm not sure about your state, but in mine (Florida) you are aloud to. But I recommend calling your local police department.

Check the DOT website. I'd say that even if it was illegal, it's like with tint, you probably won't get pulled over for not having them, but if you get pulled over unrelated, they'll probably cite you.

Why would u even want to destroy that instead of getting a wanngler where the door remove standard

Doors that are subject to federal side impact standards are safety equipment and you are not allowed to remove them (like seat belts). Wranglers (and all vehicles with "doors that are easily removed using simple hand tools..." are exempted from these federal standards, that is why you seem them running without doors.

Its a Cherokee, not a Wrangler. Keep the doors on. Wranglers are designed and tested without the doors and pass safety regs. Cherokees do not fall under that category.
