I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V6 2wd that is losing coolant. I need help!?
My Jeep has been losing coolant slowly over a 2 to 3 week period. I bought a gallon of coolant that I have been using but recently had to use the last bit. I noticed that there must have been a slow leak at first, but then this morning I got a low coolant light again and when I went to check it, the entire resevoir tank was empty. I did not notice anything leaking underneath and all the hoses appear to be ok. I have noticed that the resevoir tank top has been coming off on its own, as each time I have had to replace the coolant, the top was already popped off. I checked the radiator and there was plenty of light green liquid in it. I'm wondering if there could be a problem with the water pump? Or could the resevoir have a leak? It was filled up halfway when i went to work this am at 5am, and just checked it at noon and can already tell its down about an inch. I noticed a sweet smell for about a minute or two while driving, but did not notice anything leaking. Can anyone help?

Sorry to tell you that it sounds like you have a blown head gasket or a cracked cylinder head. The sweet smell you noticed is the coolant being burned inside one or more cylinders.
2 :
i would suspect that either your water pump or radiator is leaking,i would also check all your hoses and see if they are leaking. if your engine is overheating then i think that you have a blown head gasket
3 :
I can help. Take it to an auto repair place and tell them the same thing. it's a leak that needs to be fixed.
4 :
Either, as the man said, a head gasket is blown or you have a cracked head.
5 :
change the radiator cap,if that dont fix it,change the thermostat and check for heater core leak if the sweet smell persist when running the heater..if your oil's dip stick show's sign's water or an ugly brown, then that would be a head gasket..
6 :
i own a repair shop, and i,ll try and help on this one,,first you need to check in under the carpet and see if it feels wet or damp, this would indicate a leaking heater core on it,,if its dry check the bottle and see if it has a crack in it that might cause it to leak out, then look around the water pump, and see if it looks like it might be leaking some on it,if it all looks good you need to inspect all the hoses on it,,every one of them, there may be a pin hole in one of them that will cause this, also check and make sure the radiator cap is in real good shape,,if the gasket on it looks bad replace it,if all this doesn't turn out to help, you might want to take it and have a pressure check done on the entire system, and see if it looses pressure,,this is the best way to find a problem like this,,you will find it,mine was doing this, and it turned out i had a bad head gasket causing it,,but the pressure check will find out where its going too, good luck with it,i hope this help,s.

About: 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Transmission Problems
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Transmission Problems?
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Trans Problems? So two days ago i drove my truck up to my work.. about 15 minutes away, and it drove completely normal. About an hour later i ran my truck through our wash and parked it outside without drying it off for 30 minutes when it was snowing hard outside... Then i dried it off and started it up, it sounded normal but when i put the trans into DRIVE my Jeep didnt even move.. it felt like it was in neutral.. the same with reverse.. so i ended up leaving it in my parking lot at work until last night when i towed it up to the trans shop.. they said the trans is leaking pressure.. can you tell me how much this repair is expected to cost? Thanks, JULIEN W

About: 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo...Repair or Replace
2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo...Repair or Replace?
Just found out this morning that repairs on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo will cost $1,600 total. Mostly a fuel intake problem. Here's the question. The trade in value at KBB is anywhere between $3500-$5000 for my car in fair to good condition, but would probably be offered less due to the repair work that would need to be done. I still owe about $2700. The car has 110,000 miles on it. If I were to buck up for the repairs, how much longer do you think I could count on this car? Could I get another 30,000-40,000 out of it? Or would I be better off looking for a new car? Well, what I said about the intake wasnt necessarily correct. The problem was an air to fuel ratio not being what it should. Here are the 3 things they recommended... - Dropping the Fule tank and replacing the quad ring with Trailer Hitch - Service Rear Main Seal: Leaking - Transfer case adaptor seal: Leaking Wanted $1601 to fix all three. I'm still shopping around for a better price, but it seemed (as always) that the parts were cheap, its the labor that would jack it up. Thanks.

Dude, that is some serious cash for those repairs. It cost me $ 350 bucks for my intake work. Included labor. I would search out a good lower priced repair place. as long as the mill and vehicle body is in shape, keep it. remember, what ever dealer ship you go to, when you trade that in,will turn around and re sell it at a much highet price, than what he gave you for the reade in.
2 :
1st, $1600 sounds like a lot for that sort of repair...did you shop around? 2nd, there is no way to tell when a car will complately crap out, but if you keep up on scheduled maitance that Jepp would get near 200k
3 :
I have a 1995 Grand Cherokee Laredo with over 150K miles on it. It has the V8 and is still running strong. I would repair your intake, not replace the truck. You should still get more than enough miles on it to make it worthwhile. Unless you could trick the car lot about the actual condition of the engine, they'd give you way less for it on trade. Also, most car lots use NADA for values, not KBB. NADA values are generally less than KBB. If you were lucky, you'd break even on what you owe. Plus, you're reasonably close to paying it off. Keep it.
4 :
i would trade it if it was mine...its 7 years old...did you get your money out of it???
5 :
Stay with the Jeep you have. I have seen many Jeeps with well over 2000,000 miles. Advice from a retired Jeep Sales Person.
6 :
The others are right. $1600 is WAY too much. Also, the KBB on that car is not going to be anywhere near what you will get for it. SUV's right now are worth crap on the market. With that many miles private sale might be $5000. As for getting more miles on it that is no problem as long as you take care of it. They are notorious for hitting the 200,000 mile mark with little problem. So I would get a cheaper repair price, or do it yourself, and keep it.

About: Is this putting our citizens in danger Border Patrol Agents Work With DPS Troopers To Arrest 28 Illegal Aliens
Is this putting our citizens in danger Border Patrol Agents Work With DPS Troopers To Arrest 28 Illegal Aliens?
LAREDO (AP) - Laredo Sector Border Patrol Agents and DPS troopers worked together to apprehend 28 illegal aliens Tuesday night. The case began when agents working at the checkpoint located on Interstate Highway 35 north of Laredo performed an immigration inspection of the driver of a tractor-trailer. The agents decided to make a secondary inspection of the vehicle and instructed the driver to move the truck to the inspection area. Instead of following directions, the driver bypassed the inspection area and headed north on Interstate-35. Agents pursued the truck and attempted to stop it but the driver refused to pull over. When the truck reached mile marker 40, DPS troopers took over the pursuit. Near mile marker 49, troopers deployed spike strips that deflated the truck's two front tires, prompting the driver to eventually stop the vehicle. After the driver was arrested, agents and troopers searched the truck and found 28 undocumented aliens in the trailer. The driver and the aliens were turned over Immigration and Customs Enforcement. http://www.kristv.com/global/story.asp?s=10152960

Yes. Every vehicle which rolls across the border with undocumented aliens inside puts our citizenry in danger. Protect the borders, North South East West: Stop and search the vehicles, arrest drivers, and send the UA's back.
2 :
absolutely, these brave heroes should have the right to use weapons on sight, you do not know whether it is just criminals sneaking in or drug cartel etc... These people should not have to wait until fired upon or anything else. If they were not criminals, they would not be crossing the border in this manner!
3 :
Actually its a real wasted effort. All we need to do is stop rewarding/encouraging them to come here and stay here and they will self deport at no cost. No jobs. No welfare. No medical. No schooling. No anchor babies. No illegals!!!!
4 :
I am glad they stopped them and caught all the illegals. Goes to show what they will try to do to get away. There are a couple of real dangers to citizens.... first had the truck gotten through undetected, who knows what kind of people were illegally invading our nation. Second, if the driver had lost control and wrecked the rig and involved innocent citizens. I am sure there is a third, forth and so on.... screw these people, lets hit them with all we have and knock off this cat and mouse game once and for all! It also makes me wonder, what agents let this truck on through the primary inspection/crossing area!! They should also be investigated!!
5 :
This is a good reason why trucks from MX should not be allowed in the US unless they are unloaded, completely checked and if they pass inspection they can Proceed.
6 :
I think the day is coming when our law enforcement people are going to have to take very serious risks. Stopping that truck laid an example on the guy that he will talk about when he finally goes home.
