why wont the fuel gage work?
I have a 1990 jeep cherokee laredo, the other night i heard what sounded like a buzzing sound coming out of the gas tank area. all of a sudden, my gas gage went to empty and the empty light came on. I know i have gas in it. what could of caused this?

Your fuel gauge sender is located on a bracket right next to your fuel pump in the gas tank. If for some reason this sender broke off or came disconnected from the bracket the resistance level that it measures your fuel with will read that you have no fuel. Check out the connection to the fuel gauge sender and the actual sender. Good Luck P.S. if you get a Digital Multimeter you could test the electrical components yourself. You would have to get the specs for your car at http://www.alldatadiy.com/ for instance.
