how to replace a broken power antenna on a '93 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo. It is broken above the fender.
I can hear the antenna motor working. I have taped the antenna where it broke approx. 1" above the fender so I would have something to work with in repairing it.

There are repair kits you can get from the dealer. It consists of a new mast and the nylon cord that runs down the middle of it. Basically the repair consists of two major steps. First is to remove the unit from the vehicle. This is done by unscrewing the chrome trim piece that protrudes from the top of the fender and then also unbolting the rest of the motor and antenna unit inside the fender well area. Might have to remove the inner fender to do this. Once it is out you remove the round side cover on the bottom of the unit that covers the "spool" that winds the nylon antenna cable up. There will be some broken nylon line in this that you have to take out. After that reinstall the assembly on the car leaving off the new antenna. You shove the antenna cable down the shaft and into the unit until it "catches". This is done with the key on and radio on so that the motor has wound to the "up" position for the antenna. Once the cable is slid through and "catches" in the bottom spool have somebody turn the key off so that the antenna will start to "wind down' guide the nylon line and then the metal shaft into the hole in the unit and let it go all the way in. It will stop automatically if you did it correctly. If not just pull it back out of the unit. Turn the key back on and do over until it does. These kits vary from car to car but 30-60 bucks is about right.

About: fog lights and low beams not working on1997 jeep grand cherokee laredo

fog lights and low beams not working on1997 jeep grand cherokee laredo?
today i put the siverstar h3 bulbs in the fog lights, and tested them and they were working. when it got dark outside, i turned on my lights and foglights and they turned on for literally two seconds and shut off, there is a green light above the fog light button, and its not turning on like it normally does when i push the button, the fog lights are my only headlights, as i have blacked out the headlights... how can i get them working again? (i have checked the fuses on the pass. side and all are fine, also the block under the hood right behind the battery where the relays are and all is fine except one small 20 amp maxi fuse, but its not labeled, so idk what it goes to... i have replaced it twice and blows everytime) had em like that a year, never been pulled over told its illegal and they work fine for me... and yes, i got the 55w bulbs, i f'd it up and put it in wrong and got a short due to the +&- wires touchin

1. Which bulb did you buy? The stock bulbs are 50W. The correct Silverstar part would be the 55W. If you bought a higher wattage, that's way too much for the fog circuit and you probably fried a relay or the wiring. 2. It's both illegal and dangerous not to have headlamps. Fog lights are not headlamps and do not work even vaguely like headlamps.
