Well good luck in Laredo.....I live in the Rio Grande Valley not to far from Laredo, but would go to Laredo only if I had to. Nothing really interesting. One thing I'm going to recommend "Watch your back". Bad things happen in Laredo extremely high in crime. More if you plan to cross the border to Mexico. Be careful, be safe.

About: Why isn't the air conditioning working in my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
Why isn't the air conditioning working in my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?
When I turn the air conditioning on, all it does is blow fan air. I have not checked the refrigerant/freon level; can't. When I open the hood, I hear clicks from the engine area. Do you have any guesses to what the problem may be?

yea that clicking comes out of your compressor the one that has the pulley mounted on it and that wont work unless it has the a/c gas in the accumulator so just but the gas cans i will say about two and fill her up and see if it starts rotating, as soon as it does it will shoot out cold brisky air.

My guess is that the clicking you're hearing is telling you that your compressor has died. Bummer. That's gonna be expensive. It could be something else, but that's my best guess given the limited information I've got. Good luck!

Shes been running like a champ for 9 months now. My theory is that Jeeps can take anything you throw at them, so screw those alternator/battery upgrades. Hell, u could prolly put 10,000 watts in a jeep and it would call u a pussy.

as long as you apply for the job while still living in the u.s. , and its not a government related job. You will need to make sure you have time to cross the border before getting to work. its a way longer commute.

Yes you can. I have known many people that do that. Some were U.S. citizens and some were Mexican citizens. I have known people that were living in the U.S. and working in Mexico. In both cases, you have to allow a lot of time to cross the border, especially if you drive. Sometimes it is better to leave your car in the parking lot at the U.S. side and walk over, then drive from there. My hometown is 5 miles from the border. Now I am retired living in the Armed Forces Retirement home in Washington, DC.

Yes. You'll save a lot of money too. Gas is cheaper and food is cheaper. Since he has family there, you won't be like a tourist in the sniper's scope. And when you get sick of the Mexicans and their backwards thinking, you can just go home for a couple days for a sanity check. Definitely give it a try.

What model numbers will work when replacing a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 PCM (Computer)?
I have been having some trouble with my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo so I have decided to change the PCM. The computer that was currently in there had the model number 56044407AC. I purchased another computer but it had a slightly different model number. The model number on the one I have ordered is 56044406AD. This computer was advertised saying it would fit my model and everything. Will it work even though the one I had before has a different model number?

No you cannot do that. On 1996 and newer Chrysler vehicles, including your jeep, the vehicle VIN is written into the PCM and ABS modules upon installation and cannot be changed. Even if you get a PCM from an exact vehicle match it wont work because the ABS module will not see the correct VIN in the PCM and will cause all kind of problems. Unless you are talking about a re-man PCM in which case it will have to be programmed by your dealer before it will function properly. And i hope it's a Mopar re-man. I've never seen anyone have any luck with aftermarket PCM's. Best of Luck!

91 Jeep Cherokee Laredo fuel pump not working?
I just replaced the pump-and it worked for two days-I thought it was faulty so I put a new one in again and still no power to the pump. The relay is not bad because I exchanged it with other relays that are working and it still does not work. Does anyone know how to trace the wiring back or what to use to test to see if power is getting to the wires??? I have replaced the fuel filter and the screen that filters before the pump. There is no power going to the filter because there is a clear line at least to the fuel filter and when i disconnect the line, there is no resulting fuel in the line-thus it is not pressurized at all. No pressure is getting to the pressure release valve under the hood-I just don't know how to use a multimeter and what the readings need to be...

Your Jeep has electronic fuel injection. The pump will not run all the time. You need to have a fuel pressure tester to check the pressure at the fuel rail. You could have a clogged fuel line which would cause the pump to pressurize the system, then turn off. A tester would indicate this possibility. Have you changed the fuel filter? You have a steel fuel tank, could it have a lot of rust in it and getting caught up in the pump?

1999 jeep grand cherokee laredo after market stereo wont work?
okay so im replacing the stock stereo with a kenwood KDC-MP442U , i got the correct wiring harness's and used the correct wire connectors and everything, but when everything is hooked up and i go to turn my car on, the head unit doesnt turn on, but when i take the 2 red power wires and put a yellow memory wire, the deck turns on, but it stays on when the car is off. all of the wires are correctly matched up, and crimped down and connected properly when i had this deck in my 1996 jeep cherokee sport it worked normally what am i doing wrong, why is this deck not functioning correctly?

not working because you didn't connect the blue wire, you need to use that wire for the infinity amplifier, that is the remote turn on wire i believe it is white or brown it will be the only wire lose besides the ilumintaion good luck

You have a fuse that is blown not the amp turning on.. There are 2 power wires for a radio one is yellow and that gets power directly from the battery and the other is the red which only gets power from the key switch so it only gets power when the car is on. There is a fuse panel in the drivers kick it might not say radio it might be connected to a Cig lighter or dome light.. but if you change that you'll solve your problem

type 94 Grand Cherokee Laredo , 4.0, V6, ZJ. It happened about 3 days ago where a person passing me on the road yell in my window as i was driving home "your back lights are out". i pulled over to check. i saw that in fact they weren't on. 1. i checked the bulbs ( brand new ) 2. i checked the fuses (all fine) here's the kicker, when i hit the brakes the 2 top tail brake lights work and so does the one on the top of the rear hatch. now i know there are 3 bulbs in each light assembly unit. both driver and passenger side same to diagram below. --------- | o | brake light - (works) --------- | o | running light - (doesn't work) --------- | o | white backup light - (works) --------- please help

If I recall correctly your jeep has the pull out style knob for the headlights right? If so I would check the wire connections at the back of this switch and also the connections at the tail light sockets. Often times the wire either frays or just simply rusts off its connector. Bottom line is that if the other lights work and the fuse isn't blown your problem is with the wire somewhere between the switch and the lamp. Good luck.

The problem with a Grand Cherokee is that it is a unibody, meaning that the body IS the frame. A body lift works by putting a spacer between the frame and body of a truck that has a conventional frame, thus lifting the body off the frame. This is impossible with a unibody truck like the Grand Cherokee. You HAVE to get a more expensive suspension lift.

The grand cherokee is a unibody and cant have a body lift. There is no difference between grand cherokee models. Any lift will work on a grand. You could go with a coil spacer lift or a more expensive full lift kit.

well i am not going to beat a dead horse and say what they said, but they are correct. i got my 3 inch pro comp suspension lift out the door for under 1000 at 4 wheel parts just outside of san diego. get you a 3 inch lift with some 31s and you will be set. i have also run 32s with some trimming, BUT i wouldn't suggest it for a heavy mudder. those zj's have really weak axles dana 30 in the front and 35 in the back so they wouldn't last long.

well i am not going to beat a dead horse and say what they said, but they are correct. i got my 3 inch pro comp suspension lift out the door for under 1000 at 4 wheel parts just outside of san diego. get you a 3 inch lift with some 31s and you will be set. i have also run 32s with some trimming, BUT i wouldn't suggest it for a heavy mudder. those zj's have really weak axles dana 30 in the front and 35 in the back so they wouldn't last long.

how do i move to laredo from eagle pass? with work?
I am currently working in eagle pass but my job is in danger(long story) and due to personal reasons i am going to have to leave before i get fired. i decided to move to laredo (2 hrs away) because not only is it bigger but it has more jobs. Eagle pass has NOTHING! So i wanted to go over there. Everyone is telling me i should have a job before i go but right now i am just looking to get my foot in the door so any job will do for the moment. My question is how do i manage to do move from that place to another? What do i tell my previous employer about my jobs. Im applying everywhere and ive already worked as a teacher and a director of a facility. Im afraid that previous employers will see this job and then say im over qualified what do i do? yes what would i say i had to leave due to a falsified story made up by an employee and since he had been there for 11 years my boss took his side over mine and those were his words! how is the job market over here? i have a bachelors degree and i have been here for 3 days already and no luck... also i need to get a job just period..i can't hide the fact that i was a teacher and a director of a facility..what if they say im over qualified?

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo 4x4 Do not work?
I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and about a week ago i brought it to juffy lube to get the oil changed and the guy told me that the transfer case has a hole init and that it needs to be fixed by the dealer. It does not go into 4 wheel drive anymore whenever i try it makes a really loud noise, and i can barely turn the wheel, and once i pop it back into 2 wheel drive it acts like it did when it was in 4 wheel drive for a while til it fixes itself. Anyone got any suggestions or what could i do instead of bringing it to the dealers???

It sounds like the problem is further up than the actual transmission. You may need to crack open the actual drive selection unit (on my jeep it's in the center, I assume it is for yours too). It kind of sounds like you need to see if the reverse selection option was taken away by a stripped gear or mechanical blockage.

the previous answer is correct, either your tranny ecu is throwing off a fail code that prevents it from engaging reverse and you will have to get that reset, or when reverse gear failed something is getting in the way of the shift mechanism. just pop the cover on your shift unit and see if you can trace the whole linkage to the tranny to see if everything is fine. also, shift one by one through each gear and see if the lights for park, reverse, drive, and so on light up fine and if you feel a click when you reach each gear.

I replaced a canister that sits in front behind the bumper that has two holes on each side that works the heater and emissions. I can't find one of the vacuum hose.

Will a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo automatic transmission work in a 1995 Jeep Limited?
I bought an automatic transmission out of a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (V8). I was led to believe that I was buying the transmission from a Limited, but.... Anyway, will the automatic transmission from the 1997 Laredo fit my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited ? Both have V8 engines. The Laredo transmission measures 4 inches shorter. I was told this will not matter once the transfer case is attached. Is this true? Thanks so much for your help. I am without a car to drive since a bad car accident a couple of weeks ago and hope to get my Limited on the road soon. :)

Actually depends on if you have 4wd or 2wd and if you have a 231 or 249 transfer case. you have to have matching 2 or 4 wd and same transfer case, if different then no wont work

at first it would cut on and off,then there was a wire under the passenger side of the dashboard that you could jiggle and it would come on.about 2 weeks the heat just came on and went back off.What do you think is wrong and will it be expensive to get it fixed.When you turn on the ac or heat it is just dead no sound thanks to all in advance what is the worse case scenario re costs that could be wrong

sounds like u have a loose wire........jiggling it probably caused more problems than it helped....... no way to tell what is wrong without looking at it.....i would say take it to a garage and have them fix it....could b as simple as the wire is loose.....or u could have shorted out the motor and other stuff by jiggling the wire...

You have a blown fuse, look in your owners manual and see where your fuse box is. and check them or drive to Auto Zone and they will check them for free, good luck

A 97 Cherokee has a Turn Signal/Hazard Flasher combo relay. If it goes your turn signals and 4- Ways stop working. It is located behind the plastic panel that is directly below the steering column.

Why wont my power locks in my 1994 Jeep GC Laredo work?
My power locks in my jeep wont work but my unlocks do. i took off the dash and found the wires to the relays and the 12v constant is working the ground is good the pulse from the door is good but there is a pair of black/white in color wires that don't seem to do anything and have no power output, there is also a yellow and black wire that runs to only the lock relay.. what i really need is a wiring diagram can anyone help me out asap id like to put my dash board back together no it is not a fuse although ive blown about 10... but i know its not a fuse where can i get a wiring diagram?!?!

Your going to have to pick up a Hyanes Jeep book, they have what your looking for in it. Does the remote work to unlock the doors? Are you just useing the switch inside the Jeep? Do both pass and driver switchs not work? Did you try running a "hot" bypass wire to the switch or bypass the switch to see if thats the issue? Also not that alot of ZJ GC suffer from broken wires in the door jam inside the rubber tube dew to the door opening and closeing. You might want to try checking the connection between the door and the cab. Good luck

Mine did the same thing....... Then a few days later the factory anti-theft system went beserk, and started buzzing the door chime all the time and the remote starter would randomly start the Jeep. I removed the factory anti-theft box, and I haven't looked back. Don't waste one penny on Haynes books. The only good use for them is to hold wobbly table legs, or as a coaster to keep drink rings off your workbench. Get yourself an FSM(factory service manual).

The information is given here After making their visa interview appointment, applicants will be prompted to schedule an appointment for data collection, which will be one to seven days before the visa interview. Data collection will take place by appointment only at the new Applicant Service Center (ASC). Customer service representatives at the ASC will enroll visa applicants and capture biometrics (photographs and fingerprints) prior to the visa interview at the Consulate. So that means I have to go two times there?

It depends on the computer you have? If it is the dash mounted version it will not work on the Limited overhead version as. 1, It will not fit. 2.The connections are different. If it's the overhead version it will slot in no problem as long as it is the same engine and transmission.

If both vehicles have the same engine and transmission then yes it will work.
2 :
It depends on the computer you have? If it is the dash mounted version it will not work on the Limited overhead version as. 1, It will not fit. 2.The connections are different. If it's the overhead version it will slot in no problem as long as it is the same engine and transmission.

The hatch on my 01 jeep laredo wont work. Both glass and the main door. What could be the problem?
I figured out how to open it manually, but what could be wrong with it? Is there a fuse for that? I looked in the fuse box, but I don't know what it's called. If both the window and door are not working, it's probably and electrical issue right? whats the fuse called?
