Any place on the Mexican Border is like being on combat patrol in Afghanistan, exciting if you consider being shot at and IED's being an ongoing danger exciting, then yes it is.

I live here, as one agent told me the job is total boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror. If you want to know whats going on there is a great show called "Border Wars" on National Geo. It is on Wednesday nights. The border patrol I come in contact with are just sitting in their trucks all day long watching the local park I run at. Oh, the series shows the difference in duties, I don't think there is much difference... you check cars, keep your eyes open, pay attention... http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/explorer/3107/Overview
